Day Two Hundred Twenty-One: Lunch at Choctaw Casino
This isn't terribly original, but it was a First. On our way home from Sallisaw, we stopped at the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Ok to enjoy the all-you-can-eat buffet. We have eaten at other casino buffets before, but never this one. Our kids love buffets, especially "fancy" casino ones, and it's usually cheaper than eating elsewhere. Win-win!

Day Two Hundred Seventeen: Sallisaw, OK
On Monday morning, Jeff and I were looking at our calendars and were shocked and delighted to find that, through some bizarre twist of fate, the coming weekend was wide open. We looked at each other in atonishment, quickly discerned each other's thoughts, and immediately started trying to get a plan together for a weekend getaway. The kids all voted for a KOA, so we literally picked the first place within a reasonable driving distance that had an available cabin to accommodate all of us and booked it. And that is how it is that I came to make my first-ever road trip to Sallisaw, OK. We arrived just before midnight, so we haven't had a chance to explore yet, but I'm so very happy to be here!

Day One Hundred Eighty-One: Road Trip with Weston
Weston has a basketball tournament in Austin during the next few days, so he and I took off this evening on our first-ever, just-us road trip. Our first order of business was to grab some dinner, because food obviously figures prominently in a road trip with Weston. I hardly ever get to hang out with the kids one-on-one, so I'm super excited to have this opportunity!

Day One Hundred Forty-Six: Lunch in Jarrell
When most of your day is spent in the car, it's hard to work in a First, but we managed to get it done with a lunch stop in Jarrell. We have passed through the little town known for its tornadoes many times, and we have even visited a friend who lives there, but today was the first time we ever stopped for lunch at a restaurant there. It's not terribly glamorous or exciting, but it's all I've got for today. Although, if your a fan of Tex-Mex, you might be excited to know that Mexicano Grille serves up a delicious lunch.

Day One Hundred Twenty: Single Parent Trip to Tyler
I admit, today's First is a bit of a stretch. I've certainly taken various kids to various places, even for overnight stays. But this is my first time to do an overnight trip to Tyler without Jeff and with just three-fourths of the kiddos. While it isn't a radical First, it does feel odd to be here with most, but not all, of my people.

Day Twenty-Four: Mobile Birthday Party
We loaded up our crew today and headed to Haskell for the day, for a little birthday party for my Granny. I'm thankful we live close enough to be able to do something like that!

| It was my first time to make a birthday cake for Granny and my first time to make the Brown Sugar Pound Cake from our family cookbook. |
