Day Two Hundred Sixty-Eight: Unique Birthday Activities

Months ago, Clay made out a birthday agenda for his big day. It included some items you would expect for a birthday party and a few truly unique items like "Wake up as early as possible," "Building Contest," "Draw a wolf," and "When I go to bed, everyone goes to bed." I can honestly say I have never been to a birthday party where I participated in a wolf drawing contest or a building contest, but it was super fun!

Day Two Hundred Fifty-Five: Celebrating Mom's 66th Birthday

Well, of course we've celebrated birthdays with my mom before, but never her 66th! 😃 It was so fun to get to spend the day with her, along with my sister and her family. I'm very thankful for this wonderful woman!

Day One Hundred Fifty-Five: Legoland Discovery Center

We have been talking about taking the kids to Legoland Discovery Center since we moved here, but it never has worked out. This morning, for his birthday, we surprised Max with tickets and a day off from school to go hang out there. We all had a blast!

Day One Hundred Fifty-Four: Gigantic Ice Cream Sandwich

I always love to hear what the kids come up with for their perfect birthday cake each year, and I try my best to make their birthday cake dreams into realities. A few days ago I asked Max, whose birthday is tomorrow, what kind of cake he wanted. He thought for a minute and then declared, "I think I want an ice cream cake." A minute later, he changed his mind, "No. I think I want a cookie cake." And, then a light bulb came on and his eyes lit up and he exclaimed, "What about an ice cream cookie cake?!" The best of everything. So today, I made my first ever ice cream cookie cake, aka a gigantic ice cream sandwich. I think Max will be pleased.

When it comes to birthday cakes, size definitely matters!

Day Ninety-Two: Axe Throwing

I'm not even sure how Jeff heard about axe throwing being an up-and-coming sport, but once he knew about it, that was the activity he wanted to do for his birthday. Age restrictions dictated it be a date night activity, and tonight we finally got to slip away to Richardson to give it a shot. I can honestly say it is an activity I had never even considered doing before, mostly because I didn't even know it was a choice! We had so much fun, and Jeff even sank two bullseye shots!

Day Eighty-Three: Birthday Firsts

Birthday Firsts are extra fun, and we had a blast celebrating Jeff tonight with dinner at a new place, State Draft House, followed by two new flavors of Blue Bell.

Day Twenty-Four: Mobile Birthday Party

We loaded up our crew today and headed to Haskell for the day, for a little birthday party for my Granny. I'm thankful we live close enough to be able to do something like that!

It was my first time to make a birthday cake for Granny
and my first time to make the Brown Sugar Pound Cake from our family cookbook.

Happy birthday to my sweet Granny!
