Day Three Hundred Nine: El Botellón

We met up with some friends from Jeff's school this evening at El Botellón, a craft brewery in town. The group represented three continents aside from the one we are all on, which made for interesting conversation. The concept of the brewery is that you pay one price for "happy hour," which gets you unlimited peanuts in the shells and two pints of any of their twenty beers. And, you are welcome to sample as many as you like before making your selections. We had a great time and enjoyed the experience very much!

Day Two Hundred Ninety-Seven: Smoked Scotsman

While Mendoza is definitely wine country, there is an up-and-coming craft brewery industry here as well. We've sampled lots of wines from the region, but we thought we should try some of the beers as well, just to be fair. Many of the breweries are located on Aristides Street, which is a very fun area with lots of cool restaurants and shops. We chose to visit Chachingo where we enjoyed some new-to-us beers and a large and wonderful charcuterie board. The beer I picked was called the Smoked Scotsman. It was good but definitely not my favorite beer of all time.

Day Two Hundred Sixty-Nine: Trivia at Grapevine Craft Brewery

Jeff and I have been wanting to participate in a pub trivia night for a while now, and this evening we finally got our chance. We headed over to Grapevine Craft Brewery (also a First for us!) and got in on the Geeks Who Drink trivia night. I can tell you we stink at songs/artists, but otherwise we did pretty well. Most importantly, we had a wonderful time! I'm sure we'll be doing this again when we get back from our trip.

Day Two Hundred Thirty-One: Urban Hike and Cidercade

We wanted to enjoy this beautiful day with a hike, but we wanted to try a trail we had never done before. Our research revealed the Katy Trail in downtown Dallas, which we were eager to try since we had never really done a true urban hike. It was such a lovely day and a wonderful trail, and we took our sweet time getting from one end of the three-mile trail to the other and then back again, stopping for a picnic and some play time along the way.

Fun along the Katy Trail

After our hike, we headed over to the Bishop Cider Co. which is better known as Cidercade. Talk about a unique venue! This brewery only serves cider, but they have about 30 choices. They also have more than 100 vintage arcade games. For the price of the $10 cover charge, you have unlimited access to all the games. We had a blast sipping cider (and non-alcoholic drinks for the kids) and playing all the games, some of which Jeff and I haven't played since we were kids.

Day One Hundred Eighty-Two: Red Horn Coffee House and Brewing Co.

After Weston's basketball game this morning and lunch with my mom afterward, Weston and I found ourselves with no other plans for the day. I took him by the first house Jeff and I ever owned, but that wasn't much of a time filler. So I hopped on Google Maps to explore my area and found a fun coffee house and brewery, where Weston and I spent several very enjoyable hours this afternoon playing board games and enjoying some snacks and drinks. It was such a great place to hang out with my game loving guy!
