Day Three Hundred Fifty-One: Donating to a Busker

Clay will be taking a guitar class during the upcoming school year, and he was thrilled to find that his new guitar had arrived while he was away. He immediately pulled it out and started playing around with it. After dinner, he had already set himself up as a busker in our living room. I normally don't give donations to buskers, but this time I found myself powerless to refuse!

Day Three Hundred Thirty-Eight: Harp Serenade During Dinner

This evening, we decided to dine at Rathskeller, a restaurant housed in the basement of a former hospital that was built in the 1800s. It's a beautiful stone building, and it was interesting to dine underground. (It was actually our second time to dine underground today, and we also had wine in an underground cellar. We are practically moles now! 😀) The food was great, but the entertainment was truly unique. There was a young lady playing the harp while we dined, and the music was really beautiful. I have never had a harp serenade during dinner before, and I absolutely loved it!

Day One Hundred Twenty-Three: Master Singers Concert

My mom has always had a beautiful singing voice, and she has participated with various groups throughout the years. She recently joined the Central Texas Master Singers, and what a treat it was for Max and Clay and me, along with some of our extended family members, to get to attend their Christmas concert, performed with a full orchestra. I'm proud of my mom and am thankful I was able to add this to my list of Firsts!

Day Seventy-Three: Ft. Worth Symphony

We had our first experience with the Ft. Worth Symphony tonight and had so much fun participating in the instrument petting zoo and listening to some familiar tunes from the Harry Potter movies. I'm thankful for all the opportunities we have living here in DFW!

Day Thirty-Nine: Rock En Español

I decided to pick a Spotify station to listen to during my pre-bed knee exercise session that I would never normally pick. That's how I ended up listening to Rock En Español for 30 minutes tonight. I didn't understand all the lyrics, but most of the music was actually pretty good.

Day Twelve: Grand Ole Opry

We had the opportunity to visit the Grand Ole Opry tonight, and it was spectacular! We didn't know most of the musicians performing, so listening to some of them added more firsts to my list. The lineup started with Riders in the Sky, who have been members of the Opry for 35 years and who have won two Grammys for their work on the Toy Story movies (Woody's Roundup and You've Got A Friend in Me, which they performed tonight). Other singers included William Michael Morgan, Nikki Lane, Jimmy Wayne, Dale Watson, Carly Pearce, Kristian Bush, and Restless Heart. The Opry has been in operation for 93 years, so it felt like being part of history. We had so much fun! And, if all that weren't enough, we got to do it on Jeff's and my 19th anniversary, though, unfortunately, we weren't able to sit together, since I was off in the handicapped section of the theater with my trusty helper, Ruth, while Jeff and the boys were up in the balcony. Still, being married for 19 years and celebrating in separate sections of a theater are yet more firsts for me.
