Day One Hundred Sixty-One: Adult Coloring Book

I admit, "adult" coloring books have never appealed to me. I have always suspected that I have too many perfectionist tendencies and not enough artistic ones to find it truly relaxing, like the covers always claim. But today, I borrowed the adult coloring book that I bought for my little artist, and with him by my side saying things like, "Art is slow, but it's fun," I gave it a whirl. I can't exactly say it was relaxing for me, but I was happy with the finished product, and I was thrilled to spend some time connecting with my art lover. 

Day One Hundred Forty-Two: Alone Adventure in SPI

I went out for a walk today, but not along the beach like I normally would and not with any of the rest if the family, as they were all tied up with other things. It was nice to get out and move my body and to explore the more commercial side of South Padre Island.

Day Forty-Eight: Learning how to create a monarch garden

Tonight, our local library invited a master gardener to give a talk about how to create a monarch butterfly garden. This was the first adult education class I have attended at the library, and it was so interesting to learn about the kind of plants that attract monarch butterflies. It really made me want to put on some gardening gloves and spend some time cultivating my space.

Day Thirty-Seven: Flower Arranging

When I was in college, I desperately wanted to take Flower Arranging as an elective. But with a major that had only a limited number of free electives and with scheduling conflicts and whatnot, I just never got it done. And, after college, it completely got pushed to the back burner of my brain. But, when I saw a listing for a floral arranging class on a local Facebook group I follow, I knew for sure it would become one of my firsts. It was so much fun to have a mom's night out with a great group of ladies, at an awesome local restaurant, and get to create something so beautiful, while fulfilling a 20-year old dream!
