Day Two Hundred Sixty-Two: Homemade Bathroom Cleaner

I love experimenting with homemade cleaning products, so today I made bathroom cleaner. It's not a terribly exciting First, but it'll have to do.

Day Two Hundred Fifty-Nine: Homemade Multipurpose Wipes

We use a lot of disinfecting wipes around our house because we are dirty, messy people. I have seen many tutorials for homemade wipes, and I finally got around to making my own. To be perfectly honest, I don't like the homemade ones as much as the store-bought ones. They aren't as thick or as big, and the alcohol in them kind of drowns out the scent of the essential oil I used, even though I used more oil than was recommended. They get the job done, and we will use them, but I was hoping for something a little more amazing. Still, I enjoyed making them and was glad to have a legit First for today!

Day Two Hundred: Wash Rattlesnake Rattles

About 15 years ago, Jeff's grandfather passed away, and Jeff ended up with one of his guitars. Jeff soon discovered that the guitar had an odd rattle to it, and as he began inspecting the instrument, he discovered that the sound hole was filled with rattlesnake rattles. Inquiries with the family revealed that every time Pawpaw killed a rattlesnake on his ranch he cut the rattle off and put it into his guitar because he thought the rattle added to the acoustics. We have had those rattles on display in an airtight jar all these years. Unfortunately, the jar was recently broken, and I moved the rattles to a different, less airtight container. We have been noticing a stench in that part of the house lately and finally figured out the smell was coming from the jar. So, today I had the rare pleasure and opportunity to hand wash 37 rattlesnake rattles. Believe it or not, I had never done this before.

Day One Hundred Eighteen: Norwex

I've been hearing about Norwex cleaning products for a while and have been curious, but I hadn't tried them until today. At the Mom's Night Out I went to last night, we had a little gift exchange, and I ended up with a bag of Norwex products. So far, I am most excited with the window cloth. My mirrors look great, and I was impressed with how streak-free my granite counter tops and glass stove top were after a wipe down with the cloth. And I love that the whole idea is to remove as many chemicals from your home as possible.

My bag of goodies included a window cloth, a dusting mitt, a scrubby dish towel,
hand sanitizer, hand wash, and wrinkle releaser.

Day Seventy-One: Granite Cleaner

Today I made homemade granite cleaner and even went ahead and used it on my kitchen countertops! It was easy to make, it smells good, and I was happy with the level of cleanliness.
