I was playing around in my beauty lab again tonight and ended up with homemade cuticle cream. My cuticles are always in need of a little extra care, so I was excited to find this recipe.

Day One Hundred Seventy-Nine: Makeover
Looking for faces on which to practice makeup application for her business, a woman posted a plea on a local Facebook group for volunteers. I decided it would make a good First for me, so I offered my face. This First was way outside my comfort zone, since I'm not that in to people, makeup, or being touched. But getting outside my comfort zone is definitely the spirit of this Year of Firsts project, and I'm glad I did it. I made a new friend, tried a new look, pushed past some of my issues, and grew as a person.

Day One Hundred Sixty-Six: Homemade Body Wash
I love playing around with homemade beauty products. They usually work well, smell great, and have only ingredients I can pronounce. Plus, there is a bit of a mad scientist in me that just likes to see what will happen when I mix this with that (but a safe one, because I do generally follow recipes-- at least the first time I make something). I've tried making lots of different things, but this was my first attempt at body wash. It smells amazing, and I can't wait to try it out in my morning shower.

Day Eight: Homemade Face Mask
I'm not much one for beauty treatments, but in the name of Firsts, I decided to give a homemade face mask a try. This recipe (though I substituted coconut oil for the honey, since I have dry skin) was so simple, and I had the ingredients on hand. Plus, I truly got a kick out of seeing my green face in the mirror. It made me want to proclaim, "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!" I'm not sure if it improved the quality of my skin at all, but a smile always improves a person's face!
